Monday June 2, 2025 Honeoye Lake Water Quality
Surface Water Temperature: ~60.4 F
Water Clarity: ~9.9 Feet
Lake Level: 803.5 Feet above sea level
Lake level +.2 Feet (~2.4 inches) above normal

Observations: Monday (6/2/25), Water clarity was ~9.9 feet the same as last week. The surface water temperature was ~60.4 F an increase of ~0.9 F over the last week. We did not visually see any signs of an algae today. It was a beautiful day to be out on Honeoye Lake!

However, we did see Curly Leaf Pond Weed near the water’s surface for the first time this spring today. This was about three weeks later than last year (2024). Curly Leaf Pond Weed is an invasive macrophyte (Aquatic Vegetation) that grows to the water’s surface in late May and die off naturally by late June or early July. Its leaves look like Lasagna. See pictures.

We will not start making our blue-green algae surveillance runs until early July.
Always use your own visual assessment before making contact with the lake water at this time of year as the blue-green algae situation can change daily if not hourly. Please regularly check the DEC HABs alert map for more detailed updates on Honeoye Lake HABs alerts:
