Monday June 1st, 2026, Honeoye Lake Water Quality Update
Surface Water Temperature: ~65.3 F
Water Clarity: ~6.6 Feet
Lake Level: 803.5 Feet above sea level (normal lake level)

Observations: Monday (6/1/26), Water clarity was ~6.6 feet. This is lower than usual for early June which typically has 10-13 feet of water clarity. The low water clarity is probably related to all the rain runoff we had in April and May combined with today’s wind speed of 8 MPH gusting to 20 MPH making it difficult to get an accurate water clarity reading. The surface water temperature was ~65.3 F which was ~6 F warmer surface water temperature than early June 2025. Dissolved oxygen was well mixed in the water column and 7.21 mg/L at 9 m. It was a beautiful day to be out on Honeoye Lake!
We did not visually see any signs of algae in the water column or in our microscope water sample today.
Always use your own visual assessment before making contact with the lake water at this time of year as the blue-green algae situation can change daily if not hourly. Please regularly check the DEC HABs alert map for more detailed updates on Honeoye Lake HABs alerts:
